ENG102: First Year Compostion
Your final essays - Project IV: a Definitive Essay are due at midnight tonight. Papers posted after midnight will automatically receive an 85/350 points. You must post a brief statement: "I have submitted my paper" to the blog before midnight tonight as well. Both submissions must be before midnight in order to receive full credit. There will be no rewritten essays accepted. The essays must be on an issue important to you aimed at an academic audience. The emphasis is on argumentation: your papers' arguments turn on how well you use your definitions of an essential term to force the opposition to give ground in this one-sided debate. You must address counterarguments, and since this is NOT a research paper: raggedy-ann papers of quotes and data patched together with threads of your text will receive an automatic 245/350 points from which point I will begin to grade the paper adding further debits as necessary. MLA standards apply (and you know what they are!). I will read your papers and send your grade to you no later than May 9th by noon, If you require a critique with comments you must request one in writing via email. Your final grade for this essay AND the reflective essay will be posted on or after May 15th. The Reflective Essay is a substitute for a final exam. It is worth 50 points. It must be truely reflective of your experience of ENG102 relating those things learned in this class: IT IS NOT A CRITIQUE OF ME! Any mention of me. my teaching style, the classroom environment or any artifact in any way connected with your instructor, good or bad, turns your Reflective Essay into a Critique and you will receive a grade of 0. The due date of the Reflective Essay is May 7, 2010 no later than noon (12:00pm). Since the Reflective Essay is, in effect, an examination, any failure to respond will result in a zero which will be applied to your overall grade after computations are complete; adding or in some cases, subtracting from your overall grade.I will be on Facebook to answer any questions from 6pm until 7:15 pm 04/27,2010. If you are in the class that meets in LL160 there will be no class this evening, work on your essays instead. All students MUST check in on Facebook between 6 and 7:15pm April 27th or you will be counted absent.Good Luck!
